Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

Reactants are ingredients, and products are the results from a chemical reaction.

In photosynthesis, the reactants are carbon dioxide and water. They produce glucose and oxygen with the use of the sun.

In cellular respiration, the reactants are glucose and oxygen. They produce carbon dioxide, water, and ATP with the use of chemical energy.

  • Aerobic respiration is when oxygen is present and it releases lots of energy. This process takes place in the mitochondria and produces carbon dioxide, water, and energy.
  • Anaerobic respiration is when oxygen is not present and it releases little energy. This process takes place in the cytoplasm and produces lactic acid/alcohol, carbon dioxide, and energy.
